AT LAST A GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One month off we were all keen to get back . With a strong starting line up we were out the the blocks flying and it only took 15 minutes to open our account, a corner from Fowler on the left was met with the mighty head of Daz who leapt like a dying salmon beating all those who tried to stop him, thundering the ball into the net.

After more pressure from us they somehow equalised .

Matt beat 2 players down the right to cross to our left winger Fowler who took an eternity to bring the ball down onto his only foot??? (his left) before calmly slotting the ball past their despairing keeper.

Half-Time 2 - 1

The second half got away well with shots from all angles from us, some on target and some woefully not. Russ had to come off injured and that allowed English Tom with his mature out look and ageing legs into the match, but he did not fail us. He defended well, and even delved into the opposition half on several occasions.

Matt was fouled and injured, but despite this he again wove is magic down the right ,a well directed pass spilt their defence to allow Scott to breeze through and stab the ball home for our third - 3-1

Matt had to come off and Magnum came on and from a Welsh Tom corner super sub scored with his first touch glancing in a header - 4 -1.

They then scored a terrific goal. 4-2. The score line would have been more conclusive but we contrived to miss a penalty after Daz was pushed.

So 4-2 , 26 points so far, now we must start delivering more and more polished performances and push for the top

Full-Time 4 - 2

The Bristol Downs Association Football League is a completely standalone league. It has four divisions which have relegation and promotion within themselves but if you win Division One you are the Downs League champions, there is no promotion into any other league. This is what makes it so unique.

It is also thought to be the largest independent standalone league in Europe.

The Downs League was formed in 1905 with 30 founder members, two of the founder member clubs, St Andrews and Sneyd Park, remain in the league to this day.
