Saturday 7th January 2012- Tebby AFC Reserves
Report: Colin Dawe
Result: Won 1 - 0

From the kick off the game looked as if it was going to be lively. Tebby Reserves were just behind us in the table with2 matches in hand we needed a result to kick start our season again.

The first hard tackle was committed in the 1st minute and there were handbags drawn straight away , this could be a hard , bruising match!

End to end stuff with plenty of, let's say, spirited challenges going in. In the 20th minute Magnum passed to Russ down the left , Russ pulled the ball back and crossed to a very animated Scott, bang 1 nil up as he calmy side footed the ball in.

We had 3 more chances in the 1st half which we could not convert would this come back to haunt us?

Half-Time 1 - 0

The second half started with Tebby on the attack, but despite our recent defending difficulties we held out , Little Chris in goal bringing off 1 great save . Then we powered back with some near misses and one shot from Welsh Tom being clawed over the bar by their keeper - still 1 nil.

More nerve tangling moments as they attacked again to no avail. The final whistle went 1 nil Yes 3 points . Lets have more and more of this. every player hurt after this whole hearted performance but it was worth the pain. Well done!

Full-Time 1 - 0

The Bristol Downs Association Football League is a completely standalone league. It has four divisions which have relegation and promotion within themselves but if you win Division One you are the Downs League champions, there is no promotion into any other league. This is what makes it so unique.

It is also thought to be the largest independent standalone league in Europe.

The Downs League was formed in 1905 with 30 founder members, two of the founder member clubs, St Andrews and Sneyd Park, remain in the league to this day.
